Mediation is a free service offered to help landlords and tenants to resolve any tenancy related issues they may be having.
Adjudication is a more formal service which involves landlords and tenants submitting evidence in a case.
Both parties to a dispute have a right to appeal to a Tenancy Tribunal if either is unhappy with the outcome of a mediation or adjudication agreement.
The dispute resolution process concludes by issuing a Determination Order.
The Rent Tribunal was set up to fix the terms of tenancy including the rent of the dwellings formally controlled under the Rent Restrictions Acts. it does not apply to other types of private rented accommodation
