If either party disagrees with the outcome of a Mediation of Adjudication, they have an opportunity to submit an appeal application. Appealing is a simple process that can be done via email, by post or by hand to the RTB.

A completed appeal form, along with the fee of €85 should be sent by email to tribunals@rtb.ie  OR by post to the Residential Tenancies Board, PO Box 47, Clonakilty, Co. Cork, OR by hand to Residential Tenancies Board, O’Connell Bridge House, D’Olier Street, Dublin 2.

To lodge a valid appeal the fee must accompany the complete documentation and be on time. The fee can be submitted in the form of a cheque, postal order, bank draft or bank transfer request.

An appeal must be submitted within the correct time period;
  • Adjudication - The original dispute applicant and/or respondent may appeal to a Tenancy Tribunal within 10 working days of receipt of the Adjudication Report. If both the applicant and respondent appeal the Adjudication outcome, one Tenancy Tribunal hearing will be scheduled to deal with both appeal applications.
  • Mediation – The original dispute applicant and/or respondent may apply to a Tenancy Tribunal within 10 calendar days (this includes Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays) “cooling off” appeal referral period from the date an Agreement was reached or from the date the mediation ceases. If both the applicant and respondent apply for a Tenancy Tribunal, one hearing will be scheduled to deal with both referral applications.
