The small landlords study was commissioned by the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) and undertaken by Amárach Research in 2020. The purpose of this element of the research project was to provide up-to-date and robust information on the small landlords operating in the rental sector. The research project formed part of a strategic priority for the RTB, to use data and research to promote a better understanding of the rental sector, monitor trends, assess their impact and influence policy and outcomes.  For the purposes of the research, small landlords were defined as being associated with either one or two tenancies.  Fieldwork for the small landlord research was carried out between February and May 2020. The margin of error was 4.38% at a 95% confidence interval. Should you have questions or queries please contact us at research@rtb.ie.
